Hemophilia Association of New Jersey

NOTES TO HIGHLIGHT:

Listed below are some very important items to remember for the year 2010.

Please keep this checklist handy during the year for your quick review.

  1. October is normally open enrollment month for employees, state/federal programs, and the individual insurance market. Before selecting any NEW policies, check with your HTC, homecare company, and HANJ. Besides the normal coverage needs, you need to be aware of co-pays, deductibles, in-network/out of network costs, and percentages of payments. Make sure to ask your employer (or HR rep) if your plan is an insurance plan or self-insured plan. Self-insured plans are not under any state regulations, and the rules can be changed at any time.

  2. Remember to work with our HSI providers, as they support the New Jersey hemophilia community every day. If your insurance policy restricts your homecare options or ignores state mandates (again, if you have a self-insured plan) please notify the HANJ office immediately. The association can work with you.

  3. Remember when choosing a new Medicare supplement or Medicare Part D to review your options and choose the best policy for your needs.

  4. NOTIFY YOUR HTC AND HOMECARE COMPANY OF ANY INSURANCE CHANGES!! Also, for those on HANJ's insurance assistant program, please call the office with any changes that may occur such as moving, new phone number, obtaining full time employment, becoming eligible for Medicaid/Medicare, ending in COBRA, or anything that will change your status or contact information.
